Music Notes. Ali "Ollie" Woodson

Wishing a peaceful journey to Ali 'Ollie' Woodson who lost his battle with cancer. Ollie had a memorable voice full of soul and pure grit, and came from an era of adult male singers that I'm unsure will ever exist again in popular music.

Successfully stepping into the role of lead singer during the 80's and 90's with the already established legendary group The Temptations, Ollie added his signature sound on the memorable hit single "Treat Her Like A Lady", and other recordings which brought the group back into the spotlight for a new generation. Ollie was truly one of R&B's finest and most distinguished voices, and continued to record as a solo artist.

I was thrilled when I learned Ollie was adding his vocal touch to my recording of "Heaven Help Us All" from Time Life's "Songs 4 Worship: Soul" collection.

Rest in Peace Ali "Ollie" Woodson. My prayers and condolences to his family, friends and those who knew him best.

Jody, a friend of mine asked about you the other day. He had heard you did a worship project for TV. I told him that I didn't know. I guess this would be it? His name is John Sobiech and he does ministry work in Hollywood. Sorry that I got off the subject, forgive me.

Very well said, I had him on my mind last night and I listened to his "turn Out the Stars" and it brought me to tears! His was one of those voices that stayed with you; He will be very missed!
