In My Beauty Bag. Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme

Many of us grew up using vaseline to combat dry skin and to keep our feet from looking like we just ran through a field dusted in flour.
I discovered Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme a few years ago after reading about it in a magazine. I love just about anything with coconut, so I was instantly intrigued. After purchase, I took it with me to the nail salon for a pedicure appointment and was hooked. When not having my feet done, I put it on after a shower, bath or when needed.
Apply the the foot creme after a relaxing bath at night and slip on a pair of white socks to sleep in. It's not sexy but you really see results over time in conquering dry and cracked heels.

Chanel Sparkles. Spring Summer 2011 Haute Couture

I absolutely adore this collection. Classic silhouettes in black and white with just enough beads and sparkle really give this Chanel collection an unexpected bit of flair.  I'll be having the black sequined pants recreated.

I'm a fan of small purses. Animal print remains a classic staple in style.

Jeffrey Williams Has The Ultimate Collection.

Congratulations to the uniquely voiced Jeffrey Williams who triumphed over Calvin Tran and Dominique Pearl David to win Bravo's "The Fashion Show - The Ultimate Collection". I really liked something about each designer's finale presentations.  The rude, brash and unlikeable Calvin's black asymmetrical pared down runway show was his best. I wanted the first dress he sent out.
Jeffrey's collection had many pieces I'd wear as well, especially his winning beautifully draped red goddess gown. It was waterworks for me along with him as he spoke lovingly of his mother who'd passed away from cancer and of his desire to dedicate the collection to her.
Each designer succeeded in presenting cohesive fashion forward collections, though I felt Williams' was indeed the ultimate.

"Project Runway" should pay attention because it seems "The Fashion Show" has raised the bar.

Beautiful Brushes.

Keep your brushes and puffs clean and fresh, your skin will appreciate it.  I generally add a small cap of fabric softener to a mild unscented detergent or brush cleaner.

Style For Less.

Alexander McQueen Studded Suede Bootie - $1,795.00

Garment District Downtown L.A. - $23.00

I know there's a huge difference in quality and craftsmanship - no comparison really. As a rule I think it's better to splurge on a great pair of shoes that will last a long time but at a whopping price tag of almost $2,000.00, I would say in that case it's better to save your money and get the look for less for more trendy styles such as this.

Adorable is a word best used when describing children, but it's the word I kept thinking of when watching this - not to mention handsome.

Work It Wednesday. Work and Werk Defined

The term 'Work' is also referenced and known as 'Werk'' by some and defined as follows in the urbandictionary:

"To do something to an exceedingly excellent capacity. Most notably used in reference to dancing or modeling that requires a large amount of fiery attitude, vitality and vigor."

Examples:

"B****, you better werk!"

"Boy, go on with ya bad self. Werk it out!"

"I'm about to go in this class and put in werk on this routine."

Halle Berry is always flawless.

Jennifer Lopez is consistent red carpet perfection.

I wanted to share some of my favorite examples of the very chic nude mouth and smokey eye (my favorite combination at the moment) from last night's Golden Globes. Classic red lips used to be my thing, but I have not worn really red lips in years primarily because doing so always makes me feel like my former self. If I do a red, I go for deeper tones now.  As you get older it's imperative to change your make-up style. Things you did in your 20's might not work as well and can make you look dated. I'm sure we've all seen makeover shows where years are shaved off by changing hairstyle & color, make-up and wardrobe. Update, revamp and rework.

Nature's Beauty. Leeks

You might walk past leeks in the produce section, but I'd consider adding them to your list. Use them as you would onions, scallions, shallots or garlic. Slice thin, and soak in a bowl of water to remove any dirt or residue before cooking.
I enjoy roasting a whole chicken or tri-tip roast with lots of vegatables and leeks, as well as adding to homemade soups or stock. Try it.

Nail Art. Sally Hansen's Salon Effects

The affordable drug store brand Sally Hansen will launch two new products this spring. One of which will be 'Salon Effects' nail polish strips coming in March, which I can't wait to try. With all of the options (24 to be exact) this should be a beauty must have to keep on hand for those who can't get in for those 'minx' manicures or simply save more than a few dollars.  The strips will retail for $9.99. Another addition will be new colors with names like 'Runway Red', 'Casting Call' and 'Model Behavior' by designer Prabal Gurung whose models wore custom Hansen colors to compliment his  2011 Spring/Summer Women's Collection.

Beauty Makeover. Chanel Spring 2011

The price might be steep for some with the Spring 2011 Les Perles Collection, but the colors in the new Ombres Perlees de Chanel palette are versatile. Whether creating a luminous understated look or something with more drama, it's all there. Flatter your eyes with just enough shimmer. Chanel shadows always have nice pigment and stay put once applied.
I just tossed out countless old shadows at the top of this new year, ready to make way for new fresh colors.
