Classic Stylewatch. GUCCI Blue Suede Shoes

Gucci Platform. 2011
As seen in Vogue 1970's.

A fashion and style staple of the 70's is the platform shoe. The distinction would be that in that era, some men rivaled the women in rocking and dancing in the style. Certain fashion silhouettes from the 70's including the platform shoe were drawn from the 40's and 20's.
Gucci's new and divine blue suede pump proves some things never go out of style remaining classic with a few modern design tweaks and updates.

Classic Style. Avedon and Lauren Hutton

I love this video, it's definitely 'Chameleon' inspiration. Avedon is one of the great photographers of all time and of course Lauren Hutton is a legendary model.
70's glam rocks!

Classic Style. The Congolese Sape

Sape is French slang for "dressing with class". From Hector Mediavilla: "Congolese sapeurs are not only concerned about elegance, but also with good manners, politeness and morality. Generally, they only dress up on weekends and special occasions. Designer brands of suits and accessories are a big deal to Sapeurs. Complete attire can cost up to 1500 euros, although ironically, many of them don have a job. To get the whole outfit that can get them the sought-after prestige can take several years. Most of them start up with suits borrowed from established sapeurs that initiate them in the secrets of the Sape. The Congolese Sape, except for very rare exceptions, is a man thing, which sometimes is inherited whereas most of the times is acquired by choice."

Classic Style. Andre Leon Talley

U.S. VOGUE Fashion Editor at large Andre Leon Talley is a true fashion veteran, having started in the business in the 70's. He's been with VOGUE since 1983. I haven't seen him as judge on America's Next Top Model, but I'm sure he's a terrific addition to the show. Often on television they have people talking fashion who don't seem to have any style themselves, let alone any knowledge of the history of design.

Classic Style: African American Young Lady

Despite the difficulties and inequality of the time, many vintage photo's of African American Blacks seem to always convey not only a sense of style, but inner strength and poise as well.
