Editorial Of The Week. VOGUE Italia "The Black Allure"

I'm living for this jewelry.

Ultimately, it will be great when the fashion industry moves beyond grouping models by ethnicity - which seems to be a recent trend in fashion editorials. Models of all races should be included without the need for 'concepts' from my point of view. It would be refreshing to see women of all races and sizes and ages represented on a regular basis.

Those feelings aside - this is a fabulous editorial. VOGUE Italia always has the best of the best layouts. I've selected a few of my favorites, click the link to view in full.

L'Officiel Paris December 2010. Fashionably Candid.

I really like this type of stylized photography with a candid feel. Reminiscent of vintage photo's of musicians and singer's, you feel as if you're getting a glimpse into a 'moment'. Of course this editorial layout titled "Mayfair Ladies" wasn't spontaneous, but the illusion is there.
With everything so over the top now, it's almost refreshing to see something pared down yet still fabulous. See the full editorial here:

Du Juan For VOGUE China Beauty

I'm a longtime admirer of the 50's make-up aesthetic, especially the strong brow and mouth. Some of my most memorable looks channel that era, because I always want to keep things classic - this was true for me even in the 80's.

October VOGUE. 70's meets the 30's Glam

Though I get the majority of content online, there is still something that can't be replaced by browsing the pages of a favorite magazine, this probably goes back to my childhood when my Mom bought fashion magazines.
I picked up October's domestic VOGUE and instantly fell in love with this layout titled 'Society Slouch' featuring Chanel Iman, Jourdann Dunn and Caroline Trentini. Fashion from the 70's and 30's are among my favorites in style.
Though the looks pictured feature a range of designers from Calvin Klein Collection, Celine, Donna Karan, Maison Martin Margiela to name a few, I think these looks can be achieved by also blending vintage pieces with contemporary.

Liu Wen Works It Out In Numero China

The editorial for the debut issue of Numero China is full of captivating drama and luxury.

Liu Wen, as cover girl continues to increase her stock with each layout. I might add that she is wearing the jumbo hoops with supreme elegance. I love it.
