Janet Goes Short

I remember how much fans hated my ultra short crop many years ago when I was photographed for People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" Issue and GAP ad campaign, I found it liberating to chop the hair off. More than likely many fans will find this look jarring on Ms. Jackson, I think it's a nice change whether it's for her upcoming movie role or simply a desire for a fresh start. Fans often get too hung up on the 'long hair' aesthetic of female artists. Thoughts?

I love it, cutting your hair can be so liberating especially if you are going through things in life. It looks wonderful on her, I say go Janet!

I didn't know fans hated your short hair! I thought you looked stunning.

Cutting your hair short tends to accentuate facial features, yours are very stylized so it brought them out even more, much like Angela Bassett who also sported that look triumphantly in my opinion.

Janet's face is also beautiful but it is wider, not sure it's ideal for her features but all that matters is if she likes it, so go Miss Janet = )

It's always nice to change things up a bit. I like this look personally. But check out her neck! I have a thing for necks.

Another blog of Jody's I'm sending to my mom - she needs to subscribe! When I was young my mom had brain surgery and had all of her hair cut off. For months she wore wigs, but as it began to really grow she wore them less. Then I noticed she was back with them on and it wasn't until recently that I found out it was my FATHER who disliked her (or any women) with short hair!!! I wish she had known other women often find it liberating to have short hair, it may have made her stand stronger without the wigs.

Still have your framed Gap ad up, stunning and holds up to this day. Something so intimate, brave and beautiful about a lady who can own short hair.

I absolutely love Janet's short hair. I think it becomes here. It shows a woman is really brave and secure in her beauty when she can be beautiful without all that extraneous hair! Jan definitely has the looks and poise to pull this off.

By the way, I remember your short cut when I was growing up as I was a big fan!! And I LOVED it on you, I thought it was very boss, fashionable and chic.

This blog has stuck with me for days, I think maybe it's time for a new hairstyle change for me -- something a little more radical -- maybe more rock star for the summer.

Yes, Janet looks awesome. =)

I do think she looks great, just like the short do looked great then on you.

I personally find it fascinating that once women have trimmed their hair short, first glimpses part audiences in two camps. The Lovers and the Not-Lovers.

For the Not-Lovers: it'll grow again.
